Hello! My name is Charlie and this is gaming and queer rights, where I build different LGBTQ+ flags in minecraft and talk about different parts of the community and their own rights, and today we’re going to be talking about rights to privacy.
This one isn’t really a right but instead a basic respect, you would think that as time goes by people would understand privacy more and would respect it a lot more but no there are still a lot of people who don’t understand basic privacy for anyone but themselves.
It’s not something you see violated much of in our basic regular lives but is seen violated more in the lives of those who are more well known
For example; TommyInnit makes a lot of little jokes and comments and because of that there are tons of fans trying to force him to “come out as gay” and just generally not respect his privacy all because he’s one of the more popular twitch gamers and even now fans still haven’t gotten the “I’m gay” or whatever they’re trying to force out of Tommy.
Another example of this is Kit Conner the guy who plays Nick Nelson in Heartstopper; He posted briefly to twitter coming out as bisexual after being practically forced by fans, it wasn’t anything long it was just a short «I’m bi, I hope you guys are proud of yourselves» kind of thing, and honestly I don’t blame him as people can force so much pressure onto a person and then get mad at them for snapping, it makes no sense at all.
Personally I believe it’s wrong to try and force someone out of the closet as it can be really dangerous for those who are forced to come out, and there’s usually a reason that people stay hidden in the closet and sometimes it’s best to leave them alone in their closet until they’re ready.
Being apart of the community can be hard, but staying hidden until you’re ready to come out is harder as a lot of people don’t understand how to back off a lot of the time and end up hurting those who are queer
As someone who is also queer I can totally understand the fear of someone finding out because others can’t mind their own business, it’s not only disrespectful but it’s also really damaging mentally and can push someone to their last straw and sometimes it ends up being too late when people actually go to apologize for invading their privacy.
That’s it for now! I hope you learned a thing or two about respecting peoples privacies if you didn’t already know and I will see you all next time, bye!
Wow, what an informational blog! I will definitely think about my actions before asking people if they are LGBTQ+ because I now understand that it is a violation of their privacy and if I was in their position I think I would feel very scared and uncomfortable. - Nathan Metcalfe

So il truly believe I will be the one of the best way to raise awareness.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you no one should be forced to come out as gay especially since it is a personal matter and might not be fully comfortable sharing yet.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I love that you chose to talk about the LGBTQ+ community and give examples of famous celebrities who are part of ced community. Also, I adore that you decided to create these flag in minecraft. I can't imagine how difficult it was trying to find matching colors for the flags. Well done!!
ReplyDeleteThanks DJ, and yes it was difficult to find certain colors for certain flags lol
